The Rocky Road West

Cartoon flower with a round face, yellow petals, a big smile, holding a pencil in one hand and making a peace sign with the other. Inspired by Sunflower Children’s Hospice, it has simple drawn feet and a cheerful expression.

On 17 July, Barry and Cam will set off on an extraordinary journey running from Poolbeg Lighthouse in Dublin to the Spanish Arch in Galway, covering more than 230km over three days before crossing the finish line on 19 July.

This challenge is about much more than endurance. Their route reflects the reality faced by many families across the west of Ireland who have had to travel long distances to Dublin to access specialist palliative care for their child.

With every step, Barry and Cam are raising vital funds and awareness to help bring these essential services closer to home. Their journey is a powerful reminder of the challenges families face and of the difference that Sunflower Children’s Hospice will make for future generations.
